In a bid to accelerate lateral hiring, the Bengaluru-based IT giant has invited employees to refer candidates for a range of open roles, offering cash incentives if the referrals are chosen. This marks a notable shift toward employee-driven recruitment as the IT industry navigates a period of tightening job markets and selective hiring.

Cash Rewards Tied to Successful Referrals

Under the new referral scheme, rewards vary by job level. Employees receive Rs 10,000 for referred candidates who clear roles at job level 3, Rs 25,000 for level 4, Rs 35,000 for level 5, and Rs 50,000 for level 6. The program targets a spectrum of positions, from engineers to technology architects, with openings spread across multiple Indian cities.

Roles and Experience Across India

The vacancies cover engineering, quality engineering, the strategic technology group, and enterprise application integration and services. Experience requirements range from two to three years up to 13–15 years for senior roles. The positions are located in development centres in Delhi/NCR, Pune, Noida, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Thiruvananthapuram, Mysuru, Chandigarh, and Hubballi.

Specific roles include VOIP experts, data analysts, data scientists, solution designers, blockchain developers, java developers, network designers, aerospace engineers, specialist programmers, and technology architects. Infosys is seeking candidates with strong academic credentials holding BE, ME, MCA, or MSc degrees. Notably, applicants who have appeared for Infosys selections in the past six months are not eligible for these openings.

Industry Context: A Mixed Hiring Landscape

The move comes as Infosys’ larger rival, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), reportedly paused lateral hiring after onboarding about 650 employees last month, following a wave of about 12,000 job cuts. The contrasting hiring signals illustrate a broader industry dynamic: while some players tighten budgets, others push for targeted external hires to fill strategic gaps and fuel growth.

Internal Mobilisation and Campus Sourcing

Infosys has also been engaging senior staff in other talent initiatives. Earlier reports indicated senior employees were being invited to serve on interview panels for campus hires, underscoring a multi-pronged approach to recruiting that blends campus campuses with laterals. The company’s current messaging suggests a broader, ongoing culture of internal engagement in hiring decisions.
