Global 5G Awards 2025: OpenSignal Winners Revealed Worldwide

Overview of OpenSignal’s Global 5G Awards 2025

OpenSignal’s Global 5G Awards for 2025 synthesize data gathered from millions of 5G measurements between January and June. The awards identify the fastest and most reliable 5G networks across regions, providing consumers with a clear view of who delivers top-tier 5G experiences and where coverage is improving the most.

India’s ranking: Jio, Airtel, and Vi miss the podium

In a surprising outcome for Indian users, the country’s major operators—Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea (Vi)—did not place among the top networks in these awards. OpenSignal notes that, while 5G deployment is accelerating globally, the best experiences are concentrated in certain markets where spectrum, infrastructure, and business models align most effectively.

Global leaders in 5G speeds

Across regions, OpenSignal highlights both the fastest large markets and the quickest small markets. In large markets, Brazilian carrier Vivo tops the speed charts, while Claro and TIM also sit near the top tier. Among small markets, South Korea’s KT leads with especially high average 5G download speeds, reported around 470.7 Mbps.

Europe highlights

Poland

Poland shows notable gains in 5G performance, with operators like T-Mobile, Play, and Orange driving a strong climb in the rankings. A marked year-over-year improvement helped Poland earn a place among rising stars in 5G reliability and speed.

Netherlands

In the Netherlands, Odido claims top small-area performance, recording a 5G speed edge in localized tests and demonstrating the country’s quick rollout of high-capacity 5G services in compact geographies.

Singapore and the Asia-Pacific picture

Singaporean players also show strong performance. Across large geographies, U.S. operator T-Mobile leads with an 8.1 score, while in smaller-area coverage, Singapore’s Singtel posts a higher score of 9.1. Local players M1, StarHub, and Simba also feature prominently in the rankings for varied geographies.

Gaming and video experiences

For gaming and video transmission, Singtel and Japan’s Ou exchange the top spots. In large-area gaming and video, Ou records about 91.9 points, while in small-area video experiences, Singtel reaches roughly 92.9 points. Other carriers from Romania, Finland, Canada, Sweden, and Singapore demonstrate standout performance in video experiences as well.

What this means for Indian users

While Indian operators did not feature among the global leaders, the OpenSignal awards underscore a broader trend: 5G speeds and reliability vary widely by market, influenced by spectrum availability, network upgrades, and deployment scale. For Indian consumers, the takeaway is that 5G experiences will continue to improve as operators extend coverage and optimize networks, even if the current top performers are concentrated elsewhere.

Methodology at a glance

OpenSignal collects data from tens of thousands of devices over six months to assess 5G performance, including download speeds, consistency, latency, and overall user experience. The resulting rankings reflect real-world use and help explain why certain markets outperform others in 5G experiences.
