GST 2.0 to Reach Every Home, Says Chandrababu Naidu

Chandrababu Naidu Leads GST 2.0 Outreach from the Chief Minister’s Office

In a decisive push to translate GST 2.0 benefits into everyday savings, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu chaired a video conference with the cabinet sub-committee to review the rollout. The meeting, held in his camp office, focused on translating tax relief into tangible gains for households and small businesses. Senior officials, including the Chief Secretary and other top bureaucrats, participated, signaling a coordinated, state-wide effort to explain how GST 2.0 affects different sectors.

Delivering GST 2.0 to Every Household

The government has laid out a wide-reaching plan to educate the public on GST 2.0 benefits. The emphasis is on making the value of the tax reductions clear in real terms—whether it is through lower prices for consumer services or the simpler compliance that benefits MSMEs. The administration wants consumers to see, in concrete terms, how lower GST rates influence everyday expenses in salons, yoga centers, and gyms.

65,000 Programs Across the State

As part of the awareness drive, the government intends to conduct around 65,000 programs under various themes through October 19. The initiative targets a broad audience: students, traders, farmers, and urban residents. In schools and colleges, competitions and activities will engage youth on GST 2.0 concepts and consumer rights. The plan includes:

  • Essay writing and painting competitions in about 7,000 higher secondary schools and 4,000 junior colleges.
  • Public awareness campaigns about GST-2.0 implications for health and life insurance products that are GST-exempt or GST-friendly.
  • Information drives on how price changes from GST 2.0 affect electronic goods and daily consumer items at district and mandal centers.

One District, One Product and MSME Outreach

Under the One District, One Product (ODOP) framework, the state will showcase products produced by MSME units and farmer groups across districts. Exhibitions will highlight tax relief credits and promotions for domestically produced goods, helping both producers and consumers understand the new tax landscape. District and constituency centers will host around 850 events to ensure broad coverage and hands-on learning.

Interactive Demonstrations and Rallies

To strengthen understanding among farmers, tractor rallies and demonstrations of machinery will be organized. These events aim to illustrate how GST 2.0 lowers input costs in agriculture and allied sectors, with a focus on practical benefits for smallholders and agribusiness owners.

Marketing and Exhibitions for Domestic Goods

Exhibitions focusing on domestic products will be arranged to promote local manufacturing and the reduced tax burden on essential inputs. The government believes these activities will help citizens connect GST 2.0 with improvements in affordability and choice.

Public Awareness on Price Variations

Special attention will be given to price variations in common services such as salons, yoga centers, and fitness gyms. Campaigns will demonstrate how GST 2.0 changes translate into lower consumer costs and better value for money, helping shoppers make informed decisions.

Timeline and Grand Shopping Festival

The coordination team plans to conclude the statewide outreach by October 18, followed by a district-level Shopping Festival on October 19. The evening will feature cultural programs and Diwali celebrations in district hubs, aligning with the festive season while reinforcing GST 2.0 messaging. This synchronized schedule ensures a high-visibility push across urban and rural areas alike.

Governance and Communication Strategy

During the video conference, the CM tasked government offices with erecting clear hoardings and information panels about GST 2.0, ensuring the messaging is accessible and understandable for the general public. The effort includes partnerships with media outlets and community groups to maximize reach and retention of the GST 2.0 information.
