Incident overview
On Sunday, 28 September 2025, around 7:30 am, the cantonal police’s emergency center was alerted to a collision on the Fribourg road near Lussy. An automobile driver in his early 20s, traveling from Villaz-St-Pierre toward Romont, unexpectedly crossed into the opposite lane and struck a public transport vehicle head-on. The accident disrupted traffic in this section of the Fribourg road, a key route linking communities in the canton.
The scene was rapidly secured by police and emergency crews, who worked to assess casualties, secure the roadway, and begin the investigation. Local responders reported that the incident involved a single car and a bus traveling in the opposite direction; the bus did not have passengers at the time of impact.

The car carried three occupants: the 20-year-old driver, a 21-year-old passenger, and a 22-year-old passenger. All three were transported to a hospital by ambulance for treatment of injuries sustained in the collision. The bus driver, a 49-year-old man, was not injured in the crash. At the moment of impact, the bus was operating without passengers aboard.
Initial police checks indicated that the automobile driver held a learner’s permit and that he was driving under the influence of alcohol. In addition, the front-seat passenger aged 22 did not possess a valid driver’s license. Both the driver and the unlicensed passenger face reports to the competent authorities as part of the ongoing investigation.

The collision prompted a three-hour shutdown of the affected stretch of road to allow for a secure response by emergency services and to enable the cleanup and restoration of the roadway by firefighters from the Bataillon Sud.
