A Week of Connection: Social and Community Gatherings
Woori Community House is blooming this Term Four with a welcoming mix of social gatherings, fitness classes, and creative workshops designed to bring residents together. The term kicks off with familiar faces and friendly conversations that remind us why the house remains a cornerstone of local life. On Mondays, the Monday Mix offers a relaxed cuppa and chat, a perfect way to ease into the week while forging new friendships among locals. The Golden Years group continues this spirit with a weekly morning tea, creating a dedicated space for people to share stories and build a supportive network in a warm, inclusive atmosphere.
From casual conversations to planned activities, the term emphasizes connection as a path to a stronger, more vibrant community. Each week at Woori Community House invites residents to learn, laugh, and grow together, making the space not just a venue, but a living hub of belonging.
Wellbeing and Fitness for All
Physical and mental wellbeing sit at the heart of Term Four. The popular Sit2Fit – Chair Based Exercise Class returns, offering an accessible fitness option that enhances aerobic capacity, strength, balance, and flexibility from the comfort of a chair. For those who crave more movement and music, the Dance Fitness Class has a new evening slot, delivering a full-body workout set to upbeat, popular tunes. It’s a fun, energising way to build confidence and strength with a friendly group. To nurture calm and balance, the Meditation class provides guided visual meditations, a powerful tool to manage everyday stress and anxiety. The serene practice of Dru Yoga is also on offer with both afternoon and evening sessions, a gentle path to release tension and cultivate inner peace.
Creative and Cultural Explorations
This term brings curiosity to the forefront with stimulating workshops. The Fire Horse 2026 Feng Shui class, led by Feng Shui Master Salwa Abboud, invites participants to explore the myths and misconceptions of the year ahead. Attendees are encouraged to share their birthdate on booking for a personalised chart, offering insights into potential energies and practical remedies to weaken negative influences. A hands-on workshop with Bunnings will teach participants to craft Kokedama Balls, translating a traditional Japanese art form into a living piece of green art that’s both decorative and satisfying to create. The Kokedama project is a delightful way to add a touch of nature to homes while learning a creative skill that lasts beyond the workshop.
Health and Learning Initiatives
Community health is a clear priority this term. The Mental Health Wellbeing Information Session is free and accessible for adults over 26 in the Yarra Ranges, providing guidance and resources to support mental wellness. For families with young children, Kids Craft – Clay Art will now run after school, giving primary-aged kids (six to 12) a chance to express themselves through clay and tactile creativity. Ambulance Victoria also offers an updated session focused on paediatric health, common illnesses, and essential first aid—valuable knowledge for parents and carers. For those living with diabetes, the NDSS Diabetes Victoria DESMOND Program remains a cornerstone of education and self-management, covering how diabetes affects the body, physical activity, and goal setting for ongoing care.
