Coast Region Ready for Smooth Election, RC Assures Citizens
The Coast Region is set for a peaceful and orderly General Election, according to the Regional Commissioner, Mr. Abubakar Kunenge. In a briefing at the Kibaha Municipal Council, the RC outlined the steps taken to ensure voters experience a smooth democratic process tomorrow.
Comprehensive Preparedness Across the Region
Mr. Kunenge explained that all essential arrangements have been completed, with a focus on accessibility, information, and safety. The region has implemented extensive civic education campaigns in collaboration with stakeholders, non-governmental organizations, and religious leaders to ensure voters understand their rights and responsibilities. The efforts aim to minimize confusion on election day and promote informed participation among residents.
Voter Awareness and Rights
Awareness programs are designed to empower voters by clarifying how to vote, what documents may be required, and how to report any irregularities. The RC emphasized that informed voters are less susceptible to misinformation and better prepared to exercise their constitutional rights peacefully.
Polling Stations and Access
There are a total of 3,941 polling stations across the Coast Region, all scheduled to remain open during the voting day. This broad network is intended to provide convenient access for residents in towns and rural communities alike, reducing travel burdens and ensuring no eligible voter is left behind.
Security Arrangements
Security forces have been coordinated to guarantee the safety of voters and the peaceful conduct of the elections. The RC reassured residents that security personnel will protect people and property, with a visible yet unobtrusive presence to deter any form of disruption. This coordinated approach aims to create a calm voting environment so individuals can make their choices without intimidation.
Public Holiday and Community Unity
President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s decision to declare election day a public holiday was noted by the RC as a key step in enabling broad participation. Kunenge urged residents to take advantage of the extra time to participate, while maintaining unity and peace. He urged the public to reject misinformation and to rely on official channels for information.
Message to Citizens
“Voting is your democratic and constitutional right, and you must exercise it responsibly,” the RC stated. He underscored that no voter will be harmed for simply exercising their civic duties and that everyone should approach the process with patience and respect for others. The overarching message is one of peace, transparency, and collective responsibility as the region moves toward a successful election day.
Looking Ahead
As the countdown continues, regional leaders reiterate their commitment to a transparent, orderly process. The Coast Region’s preparedness reflects a broader national effort to support credible elections, protect voters, and uphold the integrity of the electoral system. Residents are encouraged to stay informed through official channels, follow posted guidelines at polling sites, and participate in the democratic process with confidence.
