Crosskeys Pub Fundraiser in Kildangan Raises Hope for Local Children in Need

Community Spirit Shines at Kildangan’s Crosskeys Pub Fundraiser

In a heartwarming display of community resilience and generosity, the Crosskeys pub in Kildangan hosted a memorable fundraiser to support two local children in need. The event brought neighbors together for an evening packed with entertainment, camaraderie, and a shared commitment to helping others.

From Plan B to a Night to Remember

The fundraiser was initially advertised as an event organized by Lisa Mackey and hosted by podcasters Danni and Zena from the Unhinged podcast. When circumstances forced the Saturday show to be cancelled, Crosskeys publican Shannon Keogh stepped in to save the night. “We pushed through and went ahead with it,” Shannon remarked. “It was good craic and everyone was in good spirits.”

The room was lively, with a full function room and a bustling lounge area showcasing a rare blend of community energy and festive fun. Attendees could enjoy not only the live performances but also the sense of togetherness that comes from supporting a local cause.

Talent on Display: Local Voices and a DJ Set

The lineup featured local performers who delivered memorable performances. Athy singer Katie Roycroft took the stage, captivating the crowd with her vocal prowess, followed by Ester Rowan, who also delivered a standout set. After the live acts, the evening shifted into high gear as DJ Evan McCormack got behind the decks, inspiring people to dance and celebrate the generosity of the local community.

“There was a big crowd of people, the function room was full and so was the lounge area,” Shannon added, highlighting the turnout and the overall success of the night.

Prizes, Fun, and the Real Reward

In addition to the music and social atmosphere, a raffle added an extra layer of excitement. Among the prizes was a €500 voucher for Kim and Lyn’s A Sorted Affair, a service provider known for home organisation and decluttering. Another lucky winner secured a two-night stay at The Bridge House Hotel in Tullamore. The raffle prizes helped to raise additional funds and kept participants engaged throughout the evening.

Impact on Two Local Children

Crucially, Shannon explained the fundraiser’s purpose: “The funds are for two kids. It’s to help ease their lives a little bit. It’s nice to be able to do something for them.” The Crosskeys team and attendees alike recognized that the night was about more than entertainment; it was about making a tangible difference in the lives of people in their own community.

A Night That Echoes Through Kildangan

As the final notes faded and guests headed home with prize winnings and memories, the sentiment stayed strong: a small town can rally to support those in need when people come together in a spirit of generosity. The Crosskeys pub fundraiser demonstrated how local venues can serve as vital hubs for community support, turning an unexpected change of plans into a successful, joyful celebration with a meaningful outcome.

Looking Ahead

While the event succeeded in meeting its goals, it also highlighted the potential for future collaborations between local performers, venues, and charitable causes. The Crosskeys team may well explore similar community fundraisers, continuing to bolster the social fabric of Kildangan while helping those who need it most.
