Two Suspects Arrested in Cavite Illegal Firearm Raids

Cavite Police nab two suspects in separate illegal firearm operations

Two individuals were arrested in separate anti-illegal firearm operations in Cavite, underscoring the province’s ongoing crackdown on the proliferation of firearms without proper authorization. The operations, carried out by local police stations, resulted in the seizure of firearms and ammunition and the filing of charges under the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act (CFARA).

First operation: Mendez arrest during search warrant

In Mendez, officers from the Mendez Municipal Police Station (MPS) executed a search warrant on the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 15. The operation led to the arrest of a suspect identified by authorities as alias Tolitz. During the search, law enforcement personnel confiscated an improvised shotgun rifle along with ammunition. The seizure marks another win in Cavite’s efforts to remove unlicensed firearms from circulation while protecting the community from possible gun-related violence.

Second operation: Rosario warrant yields revolver

Separately, on Thursday, Oct. 16, Rosario MPS operatives conducted a search warrant against alias Dards. The raid yielded a .38-caliber revolver and associated ammunition. Authorities say the weapon has been properly documented as evidence in accordance with standard operating procedures, and the suspect is facing charges for violating CFARA provisions.

Legal framework and public safety

The transactions and seizures in Mendez and Rosario highlight the Philippines’ ongoing enforcement of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. CFARA governs the possession, manufacture, sale, transfer, and transport of firearms and ammunition, with penalties designed to deter illegal possession and trafficking. Cavite Police Provincial Office Acting Director Col. Ariel R. Red commended the operations, reaffirming a firm stance against illegal firearms and the threats they pose to public safety.

What this means for the community

Local authorities emphasize that each successful seizure reduces the risk of firearms falling into the wrong hands and helps prevent violent crime. Residents are encouraged to cooperate with law enforcement and report suspicious activity related to weapons or gun storage. The Cavite police are expected to continue targeted operations, leveraging warrants, intelligence, and community vigilance to disrupt illegal firearms networks.

What’s next

With cases filed against the two suspects under CFARA, prosecutors will review evidence gathered during the operations. Additional investigations may reveal links to other illegal activities or networks. As Cavite maintains its intensified assault on illegal firearms, residents can anticipate further updates on related seizures and arrests as part of a broader national effort to strengthen gun control and public safety.
