In a bid to improve road safety, authorities in Danao City, located in northern Cebu, have issued a strong reminder for residents to consistently obey traffic rules. The call comes on the heels of a troubling tally of traffic-related incidents recorded from January through September this year.

According to a monthly report presented on October 15 by the Danao City police, the city logged 401 traffic-related incidents in nine months. Of these, 5 incidents resulted in homicide, 153 led to physical injuries, and 243 involved damage to properties. The figures underscore the human and economic costs of non-compliance with traffic regulations and the need for a coordinated enforcement approach.
Root Cause: Human Error
Police officials identified human error as the main driver of these incidents.
