Public Tours Offered for New Ambulatory Health Hub in St. John’s

Overview: A First Look at St. John’s New Ambulatory Health Hub

Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services invites community members to preview the newly opened ambulatory health hub at Unity Health Centre, located at 28 Stavanger Drive in St. John’s (the former Costco building). With patient care set to begin on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, the public tour day offers an important opportunity to see the enhanced facilities and services that will support a broad range of medical needs.

The public tour is scheduled for Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with tours starting every 30 minutes. NL Health Services staff will lead the visits and be available to answer questions about the hub’s new spaces, workflows, and the clinics transitioning to the building.

What to Expect on Tour

Participants will have the chance to view selected areas of the hub, including the registration area and clinic spaces. The tours aim to give visitors a practical sense of how patients will experience care in the new environment, from check-in to follow-up steps. The hub consolidates multiple services under one roof to streamline appointments and improve the patient experience.

Clinics Moving to the New Hub

Several key clinics are relocating to the ambulatory health hub as of Tuesday morning, October 21, 2025. These include general medicine and internal medicine, general surgery, and the comprehensive total joint assessment clinic / bariatric optimization clinic. Additional specialty services moving to the hub are the eye clinic, plastic surgery outpatient clinic, endocrine clinic, thrombosis, and adult outpatient anticoagulation management services.

The hub will also house cardiac diagnostics (including walk-in electrocardiograms), medical imaging with X-ray capabilities, orthopedics, and audiology. The consolidation of these services under one roof is designed to reduce patient travel, enhance coordination among care teams, and improve overall access to essential health care in the St. John’s area.

What Visitors Should Know

Visitors should use the main entrance of the Unity Health Centre to access the tours. NL Health Services staff will be on site to explain the layout, answer questions, and provide context about how the new hub will operate once patient care begins. While the public tour day is for community members to explore the space, media representatives are welcome to join a separate tour from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2025.

Why This Tour Matters

The new ambulatory health hub represents a notable shift in how health services are delivered in the region. By bringing diverse clinics together, NL Health Services aims to improve access, reduce wait times, and offer a more integrated patient journey. For residents of St. John’s and nearby communities, the hub signifies easier access to routine and specialty care, with streamlined pathways from registration to treatment and follow-up.
