A Shared Vision: Fenway Sports Group’s Fifteen-Year Journey with Liverpool FC

Introduction: Our shared responsibility to Liverpool

When Fenway Sports Group (FSG) first became involved with Liverpool Football Club, we understood we were stepping into something extraordinary. The aim was simple in principle: restore the club to the high standards it had always set and ensure its long-term health and stability. What followed, however, surpassed any expectations about what it would take to honor that responsibility.

Milestones that defined the era

Over the past 15 years, FSG’s stewardship has been marked by landmark moments, both on the pitch and off. The men’s team claimed two Premier League titles—one under Jürgen Klopp and another under his successor—an achievement many believed possible but few imagined would arrive so decisively. The pinnacle for many supporters came inside Anfield this year, when the league trophy was lifted in front of the club’s roar of fans, a memory that will endure for life.

Champions and catalysts

Beyond league glory, there were other headlining chapters that underscored the club’s enduring ethos: Sir Kenny Dalglish guiding the team to its first trophy together in 2012, Liverpool becoming world champions in 2019, and the domestic cup double in 2022. The League Cup final appearance in 2024, along with back-to-back Women’s Super League titles in 2013 and 2014 under Matt Beard, helped illustrate a broader, more inclusive definition of success rooted in belief, togetherness, heart and passion.

Learning curves and steady resolve

Admittedly, there have been tough moments—finals lost by narrow margins and off-field decisions where hindsight is tender. We acknowledge those missteps openly, because acknowledging them is part of learning and growth. Every choice has been driven by the club’s long-term health and the best interests of Liverpool Football Club, a stewardship that extends beyond trophies to the wellbeing of the community that keeps this club alive.

Transformation and continuity

The past decade and a half have seen a tangible transformation in how Liverpool operates and competes. The men’s team now trains in world-class facilities, the women’s team has training grounds reconnected to the club’s storied past at Melwood, and Anfield itself has evolved—from the Main Stand to the new Anfield Road—without losing the unique character that makes it a sanctuary for fans.

A shared commitment to leadership and community

We also want to acknowledge the leadership across the club—on and off the field—whose dedication has been central to the achievements we’ve celebrated together. Liverpool Football Club matters deeply to countless people, the city of Liverpool and communities far beyond. This is not just a club; it is a living piece of the fabric that connects generations and places, a responsibility we have never taken for granted.

Looking forward with gratitude

Today we pause to reflect with gratitude for what has been accomplished and for the privilege of being custodians during such a remarkable period. Yet this is not a finish line. There is more to achieve, more to win, and more memories to forge—as one club, united in purpose. To the supporters, thank you for welcoming us, for standing by the team through every triumph and setback, and for showing the world what it means to be part of Liverpool Football Club. You’ll Never Walk Alone.
