CAP’s Mid-Autumn Festival: A Night of Heritage and Unity

Chinoy Actors of the Philippines (CAP) hosted a vibrant Mid-Autumn Festival gathering on October 12, 2025, at REHub Real Estate Hub in Quezon City. Beyond a festive occasion, the event was a deliberate effort to revive a cherished tradition and reinforce Filipino-Chinese identity within the country’s entertainment community.

Preserving a Shared Tradition

“The Mid-Autumn Festival, or what most people know as the Mooncake Festival, is all about family, unity, and gratitude, much like Thanksgiving in Western culture,” said Diane Pascual, CAP’s President. The celebration featured the beloved traditional dice game, a favorite memory for many attendees that has often faded from younger generations’ routines amid fast-paced modern life. Pascual emphasized CAP’s goal: to revive the tradition and ensure that Filipino-Chinese heritage is passed down to the next generation.

Beyond Festive Fun

While entertainment and camaraderie took center stage, the event also carried a meaningful spiritual moment. Dr. Mary Gaw So, owner of REHub Real Estate Hub, shared a personal testimony about her journey of faith, inviting guests to consider a relationship with Jesus Christ. “This is not about religion, but about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ,” she explained. The remark underscored CAP’s inclusive atmosphere, where cultural celebration and personal reflection could intersect respectfully.

CAP’s Mission and Community Impact

CAP operates as a non-stock, non-profit organization dedicated to uniting Filipino-Chinese actors, improving their craft, and promoting fair representation of Chinoys in Philippine media. The Mid-Autumn Festival served as a practical demonstration of CAP’s mission—fostering community, mentorship, and opportunities for collaboration among actors, producers, and fans who share a distinct cultural heritage.

A Platform for the Next Generation

Event organizers highlighted the importance of passing on heritage through creative collaboration and mentorship. CAP’s ongoing work aims to open doors for aspiring Chinoy artists, demonstrating how cultural identity can enrich storytelling in modern Philippine cinema and television while maintaining respect for roots and tradition.

Gratitude to Partners and Winners

The organizers extended heartfelt thanks to the event’s sponsors and partners, including REHub Real Estate Hub, Slimmers World, Maldita, Mikata Home Appliances, Jovanni, Well-Balanced Chiropractic Wellness Center, IteraCare, Chinatown TV, Chinoy TV, Manila Bulletin, Tempo, and The Philippine Star. Their support helped create an inclusive space for celebrating culture through music, games, and community dialogue.
