WatchGuard Launches Endpoint Security Prime, Setting a New Baseline for Endpoint Defense
WatchGuard Technologies expands its Unified Security Platform with Endpoint Security Prime, a disruptive package that blends AI-powered endpoint detection and response (EDR) with next-generation antivirus (NGAV). Available immediately in North America through an early access program, Prime aims to close the protection gap between basic NGAV and comprehensive endpoint security.
Why Prime Matters in Today’s Threat Landscape
Modern cyberattacks frequently bypass traditional NGAV and even some EPP suites. Without EDR, organizations lack visibility, investigation capabilities, and decisive response options. Prime integrates robust EDR with NGAV at a price point designed to be affordable for most organizations, delivering real-time threat detection, automated response, and continuous monitoring.
As WatchGuard’s CMO Michelle Welch puts it, “NGAV alone is obsolete.” Prime eliminates the long-standing cost barriers, offering true endpoint defense to organizations of all sizes.
The Core Powers of Endpoint Security Prime
Close the NGAV Gap
Prime raises the baseline by pairing AI-powered EDR with NGAV and Dynamic Attack Surface Control (D-ASC). This combination helps reduce exposure before threats can reach endpoints and provides ongoing protection against evolving techniques like fileless attacks and living-off-the-land techniques.
Automated, Real-Time Response
The platform leverages self-learning AI agents that detect, investigate, and remediate threats within milliseconds—even when devices are offline. This accelerates containment and minimizes dwell time in the environment.
Dynamic Attack Surface Reduction
Built-in vulnerability management, device control, web filtering, anti-phishing, and tamper protection shrink the attack surface. By reducing exploitable weaknesses, Prime lowers the risk of breaches at the endpoint level.
Accessible Enterprise-Grade Protection
Prime is priced to be competitive with basic NGAV solutions while delivering enterprise-grade protection. The goal is to remove cost barriers and enable widespread adoption of true endpoint defense.
Industry Validation and Additional Services
Industry analysts recognize Prime’s value proposition. IDC notes that AI-powered EDR combined with NGAV and attack surface reduction offers a compelling security capability when packaged accessibly. WatchGuard’s broader ecosystem includes WatchGuard MDR for 24/7 threat hunting, investigation, and response, extending human expertise alongside AI-powered tooling.
WatchGuard’s Endpoint Security Platform and Future Plans
Endpoint Security Prime is part of WatchGuard’s Endpoint Security Platform, which unifies multiple endpoint offerings. Customers can transition between products as needed, and Prime customers will retain flexibility when GA expands to a global audience in early 2026. The current portfolio also includes:
- WatchGuard EPP – NGAV baseline protection
- WatchGuard EPDR – NGAV + EDR with on-top application attestation and Endpoint Access Enforcement
- WatchGuard Endpoint Security for Servers – EPDR-level server protection
- WatchGuard Advanced EPDR (AEPDR) – extended SecOps tools
All products are designed to integrate without disruptive migrations or re-installs, letting organizations tailor protection as their needs evolve.
Availability and How to Get Involved
Endpoint Security Prime is available immediately in North America through an early access program, running through December 31, 2025. Global availability and expanded packages are planned for early 2026, with continued enhancements to the platform.
