Four BTO Projects With Shorter Wait Times Announced for October
Singapore’s Housing & Development Board (HDB) has revealed plans to offer about 3,300 Build-To-Order (BTO) flats with shorter waiting periods of under three years in the upcoming October sales exercise. The new units will be spread across four projects in Bedok, Sengkang and Yishun, forming more than a third of the total 9,100 flats slated for release. The move continues HDB’s ongoing drive to shorten waiting times for new flats while providing a mix of housing types, including two-room flexi units and three-generation flats, as well as assisted living options for seniors.
New Developments With Accessible Wait Times
Two of the Yishun projects will together offer 1,395 flats with a waiting time of approximately two years and seven months. Chencharu Grove, located in the Chencharu estate along Bah Soon Pah Road and Chencharu Link, comprises 826 flats across six blocks, ranging from two-room flexi to five-room configurations. The development emphasizes greenery and community features, reflecting its heritage as former agricultural land. Residents can look forward to fitness corners, a communal garden, a playground, and a pre-school. In a nod to affordable living, Chencharu Grove also includes 418 Single Room Occupancy-style facilities where low-income, single tenants can receive their own private rooms with shared common spaces.
The second Yishun project, Yishun Glade, is bounded by Yishun Street 31 and Yishun Ring Road and will house 569 flats, including two-room flexi and four-room units across four blocks. The project will feature rooftop gardens, a therapeutic garden, and a dedicated senior care centre, underscoring a focus on aging-in-place. Nearby amenities such as Junction 9, Yishun Mall, and the Khatib Bongsu Park Connector provide convenient access to shopping and outdoor spaces.
Fernvale Plains in Sengkang and Ping Yi Court in Bedok
In Sengkang, Fernvale Plains sits near Fernvale Street and Fernvale Link and will offer 830 flats, including two-room flexi, four-room, and five-room configurations, alongside a block of public rental units. A key feature is the inclusion of 207 community care apartments with senior-friendly fittings, designed to help older residents live independently. The development will also offer a rooftop garden, playgrounds, fitness stations, and a hardcourt for sports enthusiasts, with proximity to the Kupang LRT station enhancing connectivity.
Bedok’s Ping Yi Court, located on Chai Chee Street, presents 862 flats across five blocks arranged around a courtyard-style layout to foster communal living. The wait time for Ping Yi Court is about two years and nine months. Nearby amenities include Kaki Bukit 511 Market and Food Centre, Bedok Mall, and Heartbeat@Bedok, with Kembangan and Bedok MRT stations roughly 1.5 km away.
Overall Impact and Future Plans
HDB notes that these four projects bring the 2025 plan for shorter waiting-time flats to 4,690 units, surpassing its earlier commitment of 4,500 flats for the year. The authority also outlined plans to maintain a steady cadence, with around 4,000 flats with shorter waits expected to be launched each year in 2026 and 2027 as part of ongoing efforts to reduce wait times for new HDB homes.
What This Means for Homebuyers
For homebuyers, the Oct launches offer a broader mix of affordable options with varied layouts and amenities suited to families, singles, and seniors. With improved access to Hind-level features, improved public transport links nearby, and community-centric designs, these BTO projects aim to balance price, comfort, and convenience while shortening the waiting period for a new home in Singapore.
