Clyx Teams with Wondermind for NYC Friendship Expansion

Clyx Expands to New York City in Collaboration with Wondermind

In a bold move to redefine how young people form meaningful friendships, Clyx announced a New York City expansion in partnership with Wondermind, the mental health platform founded by Mandy Teefey and Selena Gomez. The collaboration, slated to kick off on October 12, 2025, brings a three-week Sunday wellness series to the city, focusing on reflection, release, and resetting. This initiative fuses Wondermind’s science-backed mental health approach with Clyx’s AI-powered Friendship Method to help residents forge genuine connections in real life, not just on screens.

The Friendship Method Meets Mental Fitness

Launched officially in NYC on September 18, 2025, Clyx is an IRL-first social app that turns fleeting interactions into lasting friendships. Its map-based feed surfaces local events—from run clubs and yoga classes to book swaps and gallery nights—while highlighting activities already being planned by users’ friends. The collaboration with Wondermind expands the platform’s scope by embedding mental-health practices into the matchmaking engine and social planning.

“Real connection is the best form of care,” says Mandy Teefey, co-founder of Wondermind. “We co-created Clyx’s Friendship Method to give friendship the chance to flourish in real life, not just on a screen.” The partnership also infuses Clyx’s AI with Wondermind’s science-backed tools, designed to support reflection, resilience, and healthy social behavior within a trusted community framework.

How the Program Works

The NYC program centers on three sister gatherings spread over three Sundays, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Participants will experience a blend of mindful movement, journaling, and facilitated group moments designed to build trust and recognition. The themes are:

  • Release — a yoga and connection evening to shed stress and set intentions.
  • Reflect — a mindful city walk with journaling moments to pause and consider personal goals.
  • Reset — a crafting night at Happy Medium Art Cafe to re-energize social momentum.

Through gentle nudges and structured repetition, Clyx aims to create the kind of social momentum that behavioral science shows leads to deeper friendships. The “Programs” feature expands this by offering tickets to multi-session cohorts, ensuring participants repeatedly engage with the same group to cultivate trust and familiarity over time.

Why This Matters for Young Adults

In a landscape where loneliness can persist even as digital feeds grow busier, Clyx shifts the focus from chasing likes to cultivating real-world relationships. Targeting 18–30-year-olds—including recent graduates and young professionals—this expansion seeks to help users build a circle that extends beyond the workplace or social apps. The alliance with Wondermind places mental health at the center of social growth, aligning wellbeing with everyday interactions and community rituals.

What Comes Next

Following the NYC launch, the series will head to London on October 19, 2025, applying the same Reflect, Release, and Reset framework to a new audience. Interested participants can download Clyx from the App Store or Google Play and purchase tickets for the wellness series via the app.

About the Players

Clyx is led by Alyx van der Vorm, an Oxford and Harvard alum who is guiding a generation toward more meaningful social experiences through AI-assisted event curation and repeated social interactions. Wondermind, co-founded by Selena Gomez and Mandy Teefey, champions accessible mental fitness through podcasts, essays, and practical wellness resources, with a mission to destigmatize mental health by integrating it into daily life.

Join the Movement

As cities expand, so do opportunities to cultivate real, lasting friendships. By combining Clyx’s matchmaking AI with Wondermind’s mental-health framework, the NYC expansion aims to offer a scalable model for healthy social tech—an ecosystem where technology supports human connection with warmth, repetition, and shared experiences.
