Just Go Fitness Knock to Host Open Day Ahead of New Mayo Gym Opening

Celebrating a New Chapter for Just Go Fitness in Mayo

A special day of celebration is set to unfold in Knock this October, as Just Go Fitness hosts its official open day on Saturday, October 18. The event serves as a friendly welcome to the local community ahead of the official opening of the new gym, which is scheduled for October 20 in the Knock Community Centre. The opening marks a significant expansion for Just Go Fitness, already established with gyms in Ballyhaunis and Castlerea.

Managed by Conor Bowes, the Knock facility will become the third Just Go Fitness location in County Mayo, continuing founder Joey Ganley’s mission to build accessible, community-centric gyms. A native of Tooreen, Joey has spent more than a decade cultivating his vision of practical, evidence-based fitness that blends coaching, nutrition, and lifestyle support.

A seasoned pro at the helm

Joey Ganley has been active in the fitness industry since 2013, starting as a personal trainer and gym manager at the Lakeside Centre in Ballinrobe. During that period, he also led gym classes at local sports clubs, including Ballyhaunis Rugby Club and Tooreen Hurling Club. In October 2018, he opened his own facility, Ballyhaunis Enterprise Centre, which quickly became a success and paved the way for the Castlerea gym after the pandemic. The Castlerea location began operating from the Castlerea Enterprise Hub in January 2022.

“We have a great team of coaches,” Joey says. “What we do is a small group of personal training, nutrition coaching and lifestyle coaching, and it’s a very community-run gym. We’re very big on community. We meet up every month for hikes and different social events. We’re big on creating that kind of community atmosphere, that everyone is made to feel a part of.”

What makes Just Go Fitness stand out

Central to Just Go Fitness’s appeal is its emphasis on community and accessibility. In Knock, as across the other two Mayo locations, the team focuses on a supportive environment where members can pursue their fitness goals at their own pace, with guidance from a dedicated coaching staff. The new facility will feature programs designed to meet a wide range of needs—from beginners seeking foundational fitness to more advanced members pursuing ongoing progression.

Eight coaches and staff are currently part of the Just Go Fitness family, underscoring the organization’s commitment to personalized guidance within a community framework. The Knock opening aligns with the gym’s ongoing approach of integrating fitness with broader lifestyle and wellbeing support.

What to expect at the Open Day

prospective members and locals can expect a day filled with activities highlighting the gym’s offerings, including demonstrations of training approaches, facility tours, and opportunities to chat with the coaching team about membership options. The October 18 event serves as a bridge to the official opening two days later, giving residents a first-hand look at the space and the services available through Just Go Fitness.

Membership options tailored for results and community

Just Go Fitness in Mayo offers two core membership routes designed to suit different lifestyles and goals. The six-week foundation programme is a structured entry path that begins with a one-to-one consultation, an InBody 270 body composition analysis, and personalized nutrition targets. It includes four small group personal training sessions across all Just Go gyms, full gym access, and two weekly check-ins with a coach. The foundation plan promises measurable results when followed closely.

For those seeking a more intensive routine, the Just Go membership includes four semi-private personal training sessions each week, comprehensive access to Ballyhaunis and Castlerea gyms, monthly body composition scans, ongoing goal assessment, and continuous support through the gym’s private Facebook group, nutrition guidance, mindset coaching, and daily tips. This option emphasizes accountability, motivation, and a lifestyle shift toward lasting wellness.

Community at the heart of growth

Beyond fitness, Just Go Fitness prioritizes local partnerships, charity work, and community events. The team participates in annual charitable fundraisers for local businesses and maintains a calendar of hikes and social gatherings—evidence of a gym that treats members as neighbors and friends, not just clients.

The Just Go Fitness Knock open day on October 18 invites the community to get a feel for the space, meet the coaches, and discover how the gym plans to support personal health journeys in a supportive, community-led environment. The October 20 official launch will formalize what locals will already sense: a gym that puts people first and aims to foster lasting healthy habits across Mayo.
