Andhra Pradesh Stipend Hike for AYUSH and PG Medical Students
The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a substantial stipend hike for students in AYUSH colleges and postgraduate medical trainees. In addition to the stipend enhancements, the authorities extended the application window for Civil Assistant Surgeon posts and unveiled major funding for hospital development and emergency medical services. These moves aim to ease financial strains on students and strengthen healthcare infrastructure across the state.
Stipend Details: Who Benefits and How Much
Under the new orders, stipend revisions are as follows for different cohorts:
House Surgeons
House surgeons will see their monthly stipend rise from Rs 22,527 to Rs 25,906, providing meaningful relief during compulsory rotatory internships in government facilities.
Postgraduate First Year
First-year PG students will earn Rs 60,823 per month, up from Rs 50,686 previously, reflecting a significant uplift in support for those pursuing specialized medical training.

Extended Deadline for Civil Assistant Surgeon Posts
To address technical issues during the application process, the Andhra Pradesh Medical Services Recruitment Board extended the deadline for Civil Assistant Surgeon posts. The initial notification (No. 13/2025) released on October 4 had a tightened window, so the board announced an extension to October 10, 11:59 PM. Regular recruitment for these posts continues as planned, and the extension ensures more candidates can complete their applications.
Budget Allocation for Medical Services and Urban Development
In a separate development, the state government allocated Rs 139.30 crore to strengthen emergency medical services and hospital infrastructure as part of the 2025-26 budget. The funds will bolster hospitals, improve essential services, and support ongoing health initiatives across the state. As part of urban development, four cities will receive dedicated attention through newly appointed Town Project Officers—Anantapur, Eluru, Chittoor, and Guntur. These appointments are intended to drive urban poverty alleviation and improve municipal services, under the guidance of the Urban Development Department.
The officers announced include: Anantapuram Municipal Corporation chief officer K. Subbarayudu; Eluru’s K. Rajanikumar; Chittoor’s M. Krishnappa; and Guntur Municipal Corporation’s D. Simhachalam. They will oversee targeted programs and coordinate with district administrations to ensure timely delivery of urban welfare measures.
RSET PhD Admissions Test Schedule
Looking ahead to higher studies, the High Council for Education will conduct the RSET (PhD admissions) from November 3 to 7. The notification for this examination is slated for release on October 6, and applications will be accepted from October 7. The examination will be administered by Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam, signaling a clear pathway for aspirants to secure PhD seats in the upcoming academic cycle.
Overall, these announcements reflect the government’s emphasis on easing financial burdens for medical students while investing in healthcare delivery and urban welfare across Andhra Pradesh. Students, educators, and healthcare professionals can expect smoother administrative processes and more robust support as the new terms take effect.
