What is Shopping Day?
Shopping Day is Peru’s largest retail celebration, a two‑day festival that blends promotions, entertainment, and family-friendly activities across the country. Organized by the Association of Shopping Centers and Entertainment (ACCEP), the campaign brings together more than 104 brands—both Peruvian and international—across all 88 shopping centers. Expect discounts of up to 70% in broad categories such as fashion, technology, home, beauty, dining, sports, and entertainment. The goal is to turn ordinary shopping into a weekend of experiences, gastronomy, and free activities for everyone in the family.
ACCEP’s General Manager, José Antonio Contreras, notes that the event is designed not only for anchor stores but also to energize smaller businesses inside each mall. The campaign aims to boost the local economy, strengthen the retail value chain, and attract a wide public that might not typically visit every center.
Sales projections are positive. The organizers expect a 7% increase in sales and total monthly retail revenue around 2,950 million soles, with the Shopping Day promotion acting as a major driver for this growth.
How the event unfolds this year
Across the country, malls have extended hours to better accommodate visitors, typically from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The focus remains on free and accessible entertainment for all ages, including live performances, interactive activities, tastings, and dynamic showcases. The celebration spans Lima, Piura, Cajamarca, Chiclayo, Trujillo, Chimbote, Iquitos, Pucallpa, Ica, Arequipa, Huancayo, Huánuco, Juliaca, Puno, and Cusco, reflecting a nationwide effort to turn shopping into a festival.
Local centers have tailored experiences to highlight their own strengths and partner brands, ensuring a diverse program that blends commerce with culture and fun.
