About the Pink Covenant Initiative
In October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Israel’s leading labor union Histadrut, the women’s organizations Na’amat, and the nonprofit One in Nine have joined forces to launch the Pink Covenant. This nationwide effort seeks to democratize knowledge about early detection and ensure every woman knows where to turn for support, from testing to post‑treatment recovery. The initiative emphasizes education, workplace outreach, and practical tools for survivors.
Why Early Detection Matters
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in Israel, with around 5,500 new cases each year. Diagnosing cancer in its earliest stages greatly improves outcomes—the survival and recovery rate can exceed 90%. Behind these numbers are real women—mothers, sisters, colleagues—whose lives depend on timely action in screening, diagnostics, and treatment decisions. The Pink Covenant frames early detection as a collective responsibility, encouraging families and workplaces to engage proactively.
What the Program Includes
A central hub is the dedicated website pinkawareness.co.il, offering reliable information about screening, common questions, and myth-busting. Visitors can access plain-language explanations of screening guidelines, what to expect from a mammogram, and how to interpret results. The site also directs people to credible resources and patient support services provided by One in Nine.
Workplaces are equipped with practical tools to run awareness activities: ready-to-use presentations for staff, tips for organizing information booths, and pathways to form survivor support groups—all in partnership with One in Nine to connect patients with essential services.
The Pink Binder
One of the most tangible parts of the initiative is The Pink Binder—a personal care kit designed for women diagnosed with breast cancer. Soon, recipients can visit around 40 Histadrut and Na’amat offices across the country—from north to south—to receive a binder that helps organize the medical journey: test results, doctor summaries, treatment plans, prescriptions, and insurance paperwork, plus notes on available support from One in Nine. The binder is a practical, dignified tool that turns overwhelming information into an accessible, organized record.
A National Campaign
A moving television and social media campaign brings the message into living rooms across Israel, reinforcing that early detection saves lives and that support is available at every step of the journey. The campaign highlights real stories and encourages viewers to talk with family, friends, and healthcare providers about screening and symptoms.
Join the Movement
This initiative is not only about information—it’s about action. Each person can be an ambassador for awareness, helping to spread the message and potentially save lives. The organizers invite individuals, workplaces, and communities to join the effort, share the message, and participate in educational events and support networks. Your involvement can make a difference in turning early detection into higher survival, stronger resilience, and a more informed society.
