Overview
Sony revealed Pulse Elevate at its recent State of Play event, introducing the company’s first wireless, portable desktop gaming speakers designed for PC, PS5, and mobile play. Built to deliver high-fidelity audio without wires, Pulse Elevate combines advanced driver technology with seamless connectivity to support PlayStation Link, Bluetooth, and the expanding PlayStation ecosystem. The speakers draw on Sony’s experience with Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore headphones, incorporating planar magnetic drivers for deep, precise sound and a dedicated bass driver for a fuller low end.
Sound quality and connections
Planar magnetic drivers and bass performance
Each Pulse Elevate speaker features a planar magnetic driver complemented by a dedicated bass driver. This combination is designed to produce clear highs, balanced mids, and substantial bass across the full audio spectrum. The result is a more immersive gaming experience, where environmental cues and in-game audio cues feel accurate and impactful.
PS5 Tempest 3D AudioTech and versatile connectivity
The speakers are designed to be compatible with Tempest 3D AudioTech on PS5, enabling precise audio localization in supported games. In terms of connectivity, Pulse Elevate supports conventional Bluetooth for mobile devices and the PlayStation Link wireless standard for low-latency, high-quality connection to a PlayStation console. The system also supports simultaneous use: you can route game audio through PlayStation Link while listening to music or taking calls via Bluetooth.
Portability and microphone
One of Pulse Elevate’s standout features is mobility. The right speaker houses a built-in, AI-assisted noise-canceling microphone that helps deliver clear voice chat without requiring a headset. While Sony has not disclosed exact battery runtimes, the internal rechargeable battery is designed to make the speakers truly portable, ideal for use with a PlayStation Portal device or other mobile gear. This makes Pulse Elevate a convenient companion for gaming rooms, lounges, or on-the-go setups where wireless freedom matters.
Availability and price
Sony plans to launch Pulse Elevate in 2026 in white and black finishes. A USB-C adapter for PlayStation Link is included, ensuring easy pairing with compatible consoles or devices. At the time of the announcement, pricing details were not disclosed, but expectations center on a premium tier given the onboard planar magnetic technology and the breadth of features.
