In a significant event held on September 25, 2025, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin emphasized the state government’s unwavering commitment to achieving universal education. He stated that the Tamil Nadu government has designed and implemented numerous schemes aimed at enhancing educational access and quality for its students.
Launch of New Initiatives for Students
During the event, titled “Tamil Nadu’s Education Excellence,” which took place at the Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai, CM Stalin, alongside Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, inaugurated two essential programs: the ‘Pudhumaipen’ and ‘Tamil Pudhalvan’ schemes for the academic year 2025-26. These initiatives aim to provide bank debit cards to students, thereby facilitating their financial inclusion while pursuing education. This year, an impressive 257,000 students will benefit from these programs.

Reports indicate that since the Pudhumaipen and Tamil Pudhalvan programs were implemented, about 75% of students completing higher secondary education are enrolling in higher education institutions, with a marked increase in female participation.
